What’s On: Escape! Tauranga Readers and Writers Festival

Tauranga’s word-focused feast rolls out a rich line-up of writers including Maori food specialist Monique Fiso, Oxford University-based New Zealand author Max Harris of The New Zealand Project, doctor-poet Glenn Colquhoun, long-time activist Sue Bradford, comedian Michele A’Court, journalist Geoff Chapple (founder of the Te Araroa walkway), and cartoonist and writer Tom Scott. The action includes five local writers who’ve written works inspired by objects in the Tauranga Museum collection, a studio day with Red Matters photographer Bianca Duimel who specializes in portraying people with red hair, and a bushwalk with Monique Fiso identifying plant food from Aotearoa’s native pantry. taurangafestival.co.nz
Meet the dynamic young New Zealand-born chef, Monique Fiso, with Michelin-star experience who is championing sophisticated food using Māori cooking techniques and native ingredients.
