What’s on: Alliance Française French Film Festival
To 18 April, Auckland, then in 12 cities and towns across Aotearoa
The 12th edition of the nation’s foremost French cultural event provides an insight into contemporary French film production and the French-speaking world through a programme of over 50 films, from auteur cinéma to genre films and big entertainment.
The action includes cinematic gems from a new generation of filmmakers including the award-winning Ava directed by Léa Mysius (a coming-of-age story about a 13-year-old girl losing her sight) and Montparnasse Bienvenüe (Jeune Femme) – a delightful debut feature by Léonor Serraille which scooped the Caméra d’Or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. frenchfilmfestival.co.nz
